Fresh green beans roast until tender and golden with a savory coating of parmesan, panko, olive oil, and garlic. Roasted Parmesan Green Beans make a quick, crunchy, crowd-pleasing side for almost any dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh green beans
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp grated or shredded parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder, or fresh roasted garlic if you prefer

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 400°F so it is fully ready when the beans go in. A properly hot oven helps Roasted Parmesan Green Beans roast quickly and brown nicely.
  2. Prepare the green beans by trimming the ends if needed. Add them to a large mixing bowl so they have plenty of room for tossing.
  3. Add the oil and seasonings to the bowl. Pour in the olive oil, parmesan, panko, salt, and garlic powder. Mix everything together until the beans look evenly coated and the crumbs cling to the surface.
  4. Arrange the beans on a baking sheet in a single, even layer on a large rimmed pan. Try not to overlap them too much so the heat can reach every bean and help the topping crisp.
  5. Roast the beans for about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on how tender you like them. Stir or flip them once around the halfway mark so the parmesan and panko toast evenly.
  6. Check for doneness. The beans should be tender but still bright, and the coating should look lightly browned and crisp. If you want a little more color, let them roast for another minute or two.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish and finish with an extra sprinkle of parmesan if desired. Serve immediately while the topping is still crunchy and the beans are hot.
