Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare the baking sheet.
Set the oven to 350°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside so the rolls do not stick while baking.
  2. Make the pecan filling.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg. Whisk everything together until the mixture looks smooth and fully blended. Scoop out 2 tablespoons of this mixture and set it aside. Stir the chopped pecans into the remaining filling so the nuts are evenly coated.
  3. Open and arrange the crescent dough.
Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into individual triangles. Place them on the prepared baking sheet with the wide ends facing you so they are ready to fill and roll.
  4. Fill each crescent.
Spoon about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the pecan mixture onto each triangle. Keep the filling close to the wider end so it stays inside the dough as you roll.
  5. Roll the crescents.
Starting at the wide end, roll each triangle toward the pointed end. Tuck the filling in gently as you go, but do not press so hard that the dough tears. Place each rolled crescent seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake the first round.
Put the tray into the oven and bake for 8 minutes. The dough should start to puff and the bottoms should begin to set.
  7. Brush with reserved filling.
Remove the pan from the oven and lightly brush the tops of the crescent rolls with the reserved sugar mixture. This adds extra flavor and helps the tops turn glossy as they finish baking.
  8. Finish baking.
Return the tray to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the crescent rolls look lightly browned and fully baked through.
  9. Add the finishing touch.
Remove the rolls from the oven and, if desired, sprinkle more chopped pecans over the top while they are still warm. Let them cool slightly before serving so the filling can settle.
